Usage and Compatibility
This galvanized duct is suitable for use in a commercial kitchen exhaust system (range hood, exhaust cabinet) as well as in a commercial mechanical ventilation system serving a utility room or commercial space. The 450 mm diameter is designed for systems with high airflow rates: for accurate sizing, it’s always best to base your calculations on the actual airflow rate of your range hood or exhaust unit rather than on the diameter alone, as elbows, the length of the ductwork, and pressure drops can affect the final result.
Installation and Connection
The female end of this duct connects to another section or to a fitting of the same diameter. The duct system is never automatically airtight with a simple push-fit connection: you must always use a suitable fastening and sealing kit (clamp, gasket, aluminum tape) to ensure an airtight system. Any downstream electrical connections, if your installation includes them, must be made by a professional.
Points to Check Before Ordering
- The connection diameter of your range hood or vent box must be exactly 450 mm—not a similar size (such as 400 or 500 mm).
- The actual airflow required for your installation, calculated based on your cooking habits, your range hood, and the length of the ductwork.
- The total number of meters required: the duct is delivered in single-piece sections ranging from 1 to 3 meters, depending on the quantity ordered.
- Storage and handling space requirements: a 1-meter-long 450-mm duct is bulky and weighs 20 kg; make sure you have adequate space and appropriate transportation on the job site.
- A mounting and sealing kit is required for a clean connection; this kit is not included with the duct.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The duct is delivered in single-piece sections ranging from 1 to 3 meters, depending on the quantity ordered. Transporting galvanized ducts can sometimes cause the sheet metal to deform, particularly at the ends: it is virtually impossible to obtain a section in perfect condition. If the bends are minor, there is no need to reject the product: the ends can be easily reshaped, and a dent does not cause a pressure drop in the system. Unless the length is completely crushed or folded in on itself, the product is considered to meet specifications.
