The DD 146/180 snail motor is a double-inlet centrifugal motor manufactured by EMC (part number RF4C 146/180 K040), designed to replace a motor in a communal or tertiary mechanical ventilation system, a small commercial range hood, or a boiler room fan (air curtain, air heater), with an airflow rate of up to 800 m³/h under optimal conditions.

Usage and Compatibility in Centralized Mechanical Ventilation and Boiler Rooms
The DD 146/180 motor is designed for use in a central or commercial mechanical ventilation unit, a small commercial range hood, or a boiler room fan such as an air curtain or air heater. It comes with a capacitor, terminal block, and mounting bracket included, ready to replace a failed motor without complex modifications. Compatible with units from all brands, including Caladair, Vim, Atlantic, and ebm. Before ordering, check the dimensions of your current motor using the attached technical data sheet to confirm exact compatibility of the mounting frame and airflow direction.
Installation and Connection
The motor connects to a 230 V single-phase power supply via its pre-installed terminal block and capacitor. The IP44 protection rating is suitable for standard installation in an enclosure or boiler room. For a more humid environment, adding a waterproof enclosure (such as a junction box) upgrades the protection to IP55. The electrical connection must be performed by a professional; this is a condition of the warranty.
Points to Check Before Ordering
- Compare the dimensions of your old motor with the attached technical data sheet (mounting center distance, outlet diameter, total height) before confirming compatibility.
- Check that your duct diameter is, as a general guide, within the range of 160 to 200 mm, depending on your system configuration.
- Verify that the available power supply is indeed 230 V single-phase.
- Estimate the actual airflow required for your room or range hood: the maximum airflow of 800 m³/h s corresponds to optimal conditions; the actual airflow depends on the bends, the length of the ductwork, and the filters installed.
- If your unit requires a different mounting frame, be sure to add the appropriate installation kit to your order.
