230 V variable speed controller for commercial range hood motors

Our 230 V single-phase variable speed controllers allow you to adjust the extraction airflow of a commercial range hood by controlling the fan motor speed. They are designed for motors and ventilation systems compatible with speed control.

Which speed controller should you choose for your range hood motor?

The choice of a 230 V speed controller mainly depends on the motor power and current rating. The controller must always be rated to handle the maximum current of the connected motor.

We offer different current ratings for compatible range hood motors, extraction fan boxes and roof fans. Before ordering, check the electrical specifications on the motor rating plate: voltage, power and amperage.

Voltage controller or variable frequency drive?

Many single-phase 230 V commercial range hood motors can be speed-controlled using a voltage controller. Other motors require a specific control system, such as a variable frequency drive, autotransformer or dedicated controller.

It is therefore important to check motor compatibility before choosing a controller. An unsuitable controller can cause poor operation, excessive noise or motor overheating.

Adjusting the extraction airflow of your commercial range hood

A variable speed controller allows extraction to be adjusted according to kitchen activity: reducing airflow when demand is low and increasing extraction during busy cooking periods.

To protect the motor, we do not recommend prolonged operation at very low speeds. With our motors designed for speed control, prolonged operation below 50% of maximum speed should generally be avoided.

Single-phase or three-phase speed controller?

This category mainly includes our speed control solutions for 230 V single-phase motors. If your motor operates on 400 V three-phase power, see our range of 400 V three-phase variable speed drives.

Need help choosing your speed controller?

If you are unsure, send us the motor reference or a photo of its rating plate. We can help you choose the variable speed controller suitable for your installation.
